The Gila River Indian Community in Arizona broke ground on an $8 million expansion of its casino.
The project will add up to 11,000 square feet and around 300 new parking spaces to the Vee Quiva Casino. A new bingo hall, a full-service bar, a renovated restaurant and more slot machines and table games are on the way.
The expansion, to be completed in late September, is expected to increase gaming revenues by 20 percent. Vee Quiva is one of the tribe's three casinos.
