Oklahoma tribes turn Miami into gaming destination

Oklahoma's tribes are turning Miami into a gaming destination, attracting tourists to the region while generating jobs and revenue.

The Miami area is home to at least eight tribal casinos. They employ more than 1,000 people, The Joplin Globe reported.

The newest casino opens in May. The Four Winds Casino, a $20 million project by the Ottawa Tribe, will add 150 employees to the economy

Local businesses say the casinos have helped bring people to the area. "We have seen an increase in occupancy this year, especially when they have concerts here," the manager of a hotel told the paper.
