The San Manuel Band of Mission Indians was given an "A" rating by Fitch Ratings for $265 million in bonds that the tribe sold to finance a new casino.
The tribe earned the high rating for its ability to pay off the debt, for opening the casino on time and for outperforming projections for the casino.
Only one other tribe, the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians, has been given a similar rating for its bonds.
