State lawmaker under fire for taking gaming money

A Kansas state lawmaker who opposes gaming is being criticized for accepting campaign contributions from the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation and the tribe's gaming partner.

State Rep. Bill McCreary, a Republican, accepted $500 from the tribe and $250 from Harrah's Entertainment. He has faced calls to resign but he says the money has not changed his views on gaming.

"Gambling is not true economic development," he told The Wellington Daily News.
