Members of the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community of Arizona are going to the polls today to vote on an initiative to allow a 15-story casino hotel and expand other development.
The initiative is the work of tribal members who say a bigger hotel will lead to more gaming revenues. They want to increase the height of other buildings on the reservation and allow more development.
The hotel would be located at the Talking Stick Casino near the border of Scottsdale. The tribe plans to build a new casino structure.
