Cherokee Nation plans to open racino early December

The Cherokee Nation plans to hope the state's third racetrack/casino in early December, The Oklahoman reports.

The tribe has encountered several delays in opening the Will Rogers Downs. The most recent involved the testing and certification of 250 electronic gaming machines that will be played at the facility.

Under a new state law that received voter approval, racetracks and tribes are allowed to offer certain electronic games as long as they share revenues with the state.

The Choctaw Nation opened Blue Ribbon Downs, the first racino. The second is the non-Indian owned Remington Park.
