Financing for tribe's Detroit casino approved

The Michigan Gaming Control Board approved financing plans for the Sault Ste Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians' casino in Detroit.

The board approved $200 million in bond financing for the construction of a permanent Greektown Casino and another $475 million to refinance existing debt, The Detroit News reported.

The tribe owns 90 percent of the casino. The permanent facility is expected to be completed by January 2008.
