The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation's gaming enterprise is worth more than $1.7 billion, Brett Arends of The Boston Herald reports.
Arends says the Foxwoods Resort Casino pulls in $1.3 billion a year. Adding in the tribe's gaming-related enterprises, the total comes to more than $1.7 billion, or about $137,000 for each of the 800 tribal members.
The tribe is planning to expand its empire of its gaming-related offerings, like the casino hotel and retail shops.
Foxwoods is also bringing in more poker tables to capitalize on the game's popularity. The nearby Mohegan Sun casino closed its poker room two years ago.
