Poll shows mixed views on gaming in Rochester

A poll of voters in Rochester, New York, finds that few outright support gaming, 13WHAM-TV reports.

The Seneca-Cayuga Tribe of Oklahoma proposed a couple of gaming ideas in the city before its land claim settlement was derailed. One was a land casino; the other was a ferry casino.

According to the poll, only 18 percent think a casino would help the city's economy while 58 percent said a casino is not important at all. Only 20 percent thought a land casino in downtown was a good idea.

The ferry casino had much more support -- 43 percent said it was a good idea. But 51 percent thought truck cargo was a better idea than a casino.
