Bois Forte Band moves beyond gaming and diversifies

The Bois Forte Band of Chippewa in northern Minnesota is seeing success with its casino resort but is moving beyond gaming to diversify its economy.

The tribe recently purchased a touch-free car wash manufacturer, a radio station and a convenience store. Tribal and gaming officials say it's part of a long-term strategy to develop new businesses.

The Fortune Bay Resort Casino and the Wilderness, an 18-hole golf course that opened in July 2004, employ 500 people, most of whom are non-Indian.
