Oklahoma tribes send less to state for second month

The state of Oklahoma is seeing far less than it expected under new tribal gaming compacts.

For the month of August 2005, 18 tribes contributed $880,391 to the state, The Oklahoman reported. This was down 16 percent from July 2005.

The figures mean the state is on track to see $12 million in gaming revenues this fiscal year. State Treasurer Scott Meacham had projected $40.5 million, The Oklahoman said.

The compacts require tribes to share revenues from certain electronic machines. But tribes have been slow to install the machines for various reasons.
