Cayuga Nation opposes proposed gambling law

The Cayuga Nation of New York is opposing a proposal gambling law in Seneca County, saying it will hurt the tribe.

The tribe is operating a bingo hall in the county on land that is not in trust. The land may be subject to the county's jurisdiction but the tribe says it should fall under the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act.

The proposed law would a civil lawsuit against any property using illegal gaming or people participating in illegal gaming, according to The Auburn Citizen.
