Wisconsin court hears lawsuit over gaming compacts

The Wisconsin Supreme Court on Wednesday heard a lawsuit challenging the legality of tribal-state gaming compacts.

The owners of Dairyland Greyhound Park, a non-Indian racetrack, say the compacts are illegal. The track says voters, in 1993, outlawed Class III gaming.

The state is defending the compacts, first signed in 1998 and amended in 2003. The 2003 amendments authorized a larger set of Class III games in exchange for more tribal revenues.
