Navajo Nation president vetoes chapter's gaming deal

Navajo Nation President Joe Shirley Jr. vetoed a casino agreement between the Navajo Nation and the Hogback Chapter.

The Navajo Nation Council approved the deal on July 21. It calls for the Hogback Chapter to receive a portion of the revenues from a proposed casino.

Shirley supports gaming on the reservation but said the agreement didn't clearly spell out how the profits from a Hogback casino would be distributed. He said all Navajo chapters should share in gaming revenues.
