Catawba Nation to file another gaming lawsuit

The Catawba Nation plans to file another gaming lawsuit against the state of South Carolina.

This time the case will be filed in state court. An earlier effort in federal court was withdrawn earlier this year due to the tribe's ongoing leadership struggle.

The tribe wants the court to rule that it can offer video poker on the reservation. Although video poker was legal at the time of the tribe's 1993 settlement act, which puts tribal gaming under state jurisdiction, the state says it is now illegal because voters amended the state constitution.
