California group wants changes in gaming policy

A group called the California Tribal Business Alliance [Web Site] is calling for changes in the state's Indian gaming policy.

The CTBA is made up of the Paskenta Band of the Nomlaki Indians, the Pala Band of Mission Indians, the Pauma Band of Luiseno Indians, the Rumsey Band of Wintun Indians, the United Auburn Indian Community and the Viejas Band of Kumeyaay Indians. All six tribes operate casinos and share representation by attorney Howard Dickstein.

In a statement [PDF], the group calls on the state to oppose off-reservation land acquisitions for land not in a tribe's traditional homeland, to make changes in how non-gaming tribes use the Revenue Sharing Trust Fund and to provide incentives for gaming tribes to work with non-gaming tribes.
