Few noticed closure of tribe's tiny casino

The La Jolla Band of Luiseno Indians closed its tiny 30-slot machine casino in January but few people noticed, The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

But that won't be the case when the tribe reopens with a facility 10 times bigger, said Chairman Tracy Lee Nelson. The tribe has signed a management contract with a Texas firm, Nevada Gold, for a casino with 349 slot machines, 12 card tables and a 75-room hotel.

Nelson said the old casino wasn't making any money. The new facility will be in a different location on the reservation.
