Gov. Bush doesn't want tribes to make huge profits

Florida Gov. Jeb Bush (R) has agreed to negotiate a Class III gaming compact with the Seminole Tribe but he is already wary of an agreement that could make Indians more wealthy.

"By law, the Indian tribes are granted whatever the parimutuels get as the floor, not the ceiling,'' Bush told The Miami Herald. 'I believe both the parimutuels and the tribes want to have Class III gambling because they can make more money -- surprise, surprise -- and that's the reason I have resistance to it."

"I don't think their making huge profits ought to be the underlying policy of the state of Florida," he was quoted as saying.

Bush agreed to talk with the Seminoles and has a pending request for negotiations with the Miccosukee Tribe.
