State wants $30M payment from Ho-Chunk Nation

Wisconsin Gov. Jim Doyle (D) is negotiating with the Ho-Chunk Nation over a $30 million payment the state says it is owed.

The tribe hasn't made the payment because it says it isn't offering the Class III games authorized by a disputed compact. Also, the tribe is undergoing some financial strain.

Doyle said the Ho-Chunk Nation is the only tribe withholding its payment.
