Eastern Shawnee Tribe pledges money, jobs in Ohio

The Eastern Shawnee Tribe of Oklahoma says it will contribute billions to Ohio's economy and create upwards of 18,000 jobs if allowed to open several off-reservation casinos.

A consultant said the tribe will invest $2 billion in the state and share between $500 million and $850 million in gaming revenues with the state. Host communities will also receive 2 percent of gaming proceeds, according to the consultant.

The tribe has signed four deals with willing municipalities and four more are in the works. But voters in Lordstown are going to the polls in hopes of getting more than 2 percent from a proposed casino.
