Southeast region seen as big for Indian gaming

The Southeast region of the United States has the potential to be the next big thing in Indian gaming, the lawyer for the National Indian Gaming Association said at the recent Southern Gaming Summit.

"It probably is the last area that can get Indian gaming back into double figure growth," Jason Giles said, according to the Associated Press.

The AP says there are more than a dozen tribal gaming facilities in Mississippi, Alabama, Louisiana, Florida and North Carolina. The Mississippi Choctaws, the Eastern Cherokees in North Carolina and the Miccosukees and Seminoles in Florida all have seen success with gaming.
