Minnesota casino plan not finding support

A survey of state lawmakers by The Minneapolis Star Tribune shows little support Gov. Tim Pawlenty's plan for two casinos in the Twin Cities.

Of those surveyed, nearly two-thirds in the GOP-controlled House said they opposed it. Only 24 said they support it.

Pawlenty, a Republican, initially backed a state-run casino in partnership with three tribes. But he changed the proposal to bring in the owners of a non-Indian racetrack. His new plan calls for two casinos to be built at the site of the Canterbury Park track, which is located near the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community's casino.
