10th Circuit hears Northern Arapaho gaming case

The 10th Circuit Court of Appeals heard arguments in the Northern Arapaho Tribe's Class III gaming case on Tuesday.

The tribe is battling the state of Wyoming over which Class III games are legal. The state has taken a limited view, refusing to negotiate for card games and slot machines.

Last November, a three-judge panel of the 10th Circuit sided with the tribe and said the state was dealing in "bad faith." The judges said the state must negotiate a compact for all forms of Class III gaming.

That ruling is now being reconsidered by a full panel of the court. According to the Associated Press, some of the judges said the state's gaming laws are confusing so they might have to ask the state Supreme Court for clarification.
