Seneca-Cayuga Tribe confirms interest in casino site

The Seneca-Cayuga Tribe of Oklahoma confirmed it is looking at locating a casino outside of the Catskills region of New York.

The tribe is eyeing a farm in the nearby town of Saugerties that was used for the Woodstock '94 festival. Local people are willing to listen to the proposal before deciding, said the town supervisor.

The tribe is not abandoning the Catskills or its development partner, said a spokesperson. Gov. George Pataki (R) reached a settlement to allow the tribe one of up to five casinos in the Catskills but the deal is on hold due to the recent U.S. Supreme Court decision in the Oneida Nation case.
