Three Kansas tribes have joined together to propose an off-reservation casino.
The Sac and Fox Nation, the Kickapoo Tribe and the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation want to build the casino in southeast Kansas on the border with Oklahoma and Missouri. They are trying to bring the Iowa Tribe, the fourth Kansas tribe, into the project.
The Iowa Tribe has already proposed an off-reservation casino near Wichita. The Sac and Fox Nation and the Kickapoo Tribe have signed a compact for an off-reservation casino in the Kansas City area but the deal has not been approved by state lawmakers.
