The mayor of Flint, Michigan, announced a major casino on Wednesday but the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians said it hasn't confirmed its participation in the deal.
The complex would include a shopping mall, hotel and 200,000-square-foot casino. Mayor Don Williamson says it would be a private venture between Sports Resorts International Inc., of which he is a majority stockholder, and the tribe.
The idea was previously presented to former chairman Bernard Bouschor but the current leadership hasn't seen any proposals, said chairman Aaron Payment, who didn't rule out the possibility of joining the deal.
