Study: Oregon tribal gaming contributes $1B to state

Tribal gaming in Oregon contributes $1 billion to the state economy and millions in state and local taxes, according to a report released on Tuesday.

The Oregon Gaming Alliance analyzed economic and other data to gauge the impact of tribal casinos. The report found that nearly 11,000 direct and indirect jobs have been created in 2003 alone.

State and local governments collected $42.6 million personal and corporate income taxes and property taxes as a result of gaming in 2003. Tribes contributed $7.2 million to community organizations that year.
