Leaders of the Yakama Nation of Washington have rejected one site for a second tribal casino but other sites remain on the table.
The Ellensburg site was rejected due to environmental concerns, The Yakima Herald-Republic reported. But the project's proponent, a tribal member named Ted Strong, said he will continue to push the site.
Strong said two other locations favored by tribal leaders are not feasible. Yakama Chairman Louis Cloud has said the tribe could build a casino in Battle Ground, Washington, or in Oregon City, Oregon, because there is trust land there. Both sites are located near Portland, Oregon.
