The Grand Forks, North Dakota, city council passed a resolution on Monday that expresses interest -- but not outright support -- for the Turtle Mountain Chippewa's proposed non-reservation casino.
The resolution encourages the tribe to seek state and federal support for the casino. The vote came after a few residents expressed opposition to the casino.
The tribe operates a casino on its reservation and is eyeing land in Grand Forks for another one. Other tribes in the state and in the area oppose the idea.
