The Southern Ute Tribe of Colorado is considering two new casinos, The Durango Herald reports.
The tribe opened its Class III casino in 1993. The Sky Ute Lodge & Casino in Ignacio has slot machines, blackjack and poker tables, a bingo hall, a hotel, two restaurants, a conference center and an arena.
The proposed facility would be even larger, according to a state official who met recently with the tribe. Also under consideration is a slot machine parlor.
Tribal officials declined to confirm or elaborate on the plans. The tribe's executive director said the tribe wants to "keep a lid" on any expansion.
