The Tulare County, California, Board of Supervisors has voted against the Tule River Tribe's land-into-trust application out of fear the tribe will open a casino on the new land.
The tribe is seeking approval to acquire 40 acres. According to The Central Valley Business Times, the land is several miles away from the existing reservation.
The tribe already operates a casino on the reservation and is open to gaming on the newly acquired land but has not announced any plans.
