A coalition of anti-gambling groups held a press conference on Friday to call for a two-year moratorium on off-reservation casinos.
The National Coalition Against Gambling Expansion included groups like the Connecticut Alliance Against Casino Expansion and Focus on the Family. They said the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act is full of holes that allow tribes to seek casinos far away from their homelands.
Ernie Stevens Jr., the chairman of the National Indian Gaming Association, said tribes would oppose any moratorium.
