The Bureau of Indians Affairs held a public hearing on Wednesday to discuss the Greenville Rancheria proposed casino.
The tribe, based in Plumas County, plans to open a 120,000-square foot casino on 334 acres in Tehama County. The land is located in the city of Red Bluff.
The Paskenta Band of Nomlaki Indians opposes the casino, which would located 13 miles from its own casino. The tribe accuses the Greenville Rancheria of "reservation shopping."
Comments on the environmental impact report must be sent to the BIA by September 23. Mail them to Clay Gregory, Regional Director, Pacific Region, Bureau of Indian Affairs, 2800 Cottage Way, Sacramento 95825.
