The Soboba Band of Luiseño Indians plans to relocate its existing on-reservation casino to non-reservation land that the tribe would receive as part of a water rights settlement.
The tribe wants to build a casino, a 400-room hotel, restaurants and other amenities on a 128-acre parcel near Hemet. The land is located near a busy intersection, The Riverside Press-Enterprise reported.
The tribe is gaining the land as part of a settlement with local water districts. An act of Congress is needed before the tribe can acquire the land.
