The Omaha Tribe of Nebraska is expecting a good turnout for the opening of its Class II facility today.
The Lucky 77 Casino will have 50 electronic bingo machines. It is the third in the state -- the Winnebago Tribe and the Santee Sioux Tribe have opened similar facilities -- to feature Class II games. The Ponca Tribe also has a bingo hall.
The tribe see gaming as a way to generate revenues for essential services. Although Class III gaming is not legal, they say the casinos are creating jobs and helping communities on and off the reservations.
