The Lytton Band of Pomo Indians opened its Class II gaming facility in downtown San Pablo on Monday.
The tribe installed an estimated 500 electronic machines. The games were developed by International Game Technology, The San Francisco Chronicle reported.
Critics say the games closely resemble slot machines. The tribe's Class III compact has been delayed at the state level.
The tribe acquired the land under a Congressional rider in 2000. A bill pending in the Senate would force the tribe to go through the two-part determination process before engaging in further gaming.
