Representatives of three Kansas tribes plan to meet with state officials to discuss their bid for an off-reservation casino.
The Kickapoo Tribe, the Sac and Fox Nation and the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation are proposing a casino in the southeastern part of the state. A feasibility study recommends 2,500 slot machines and 80 table games, a 200-room hotel, restaurants, and conference and banquet space.
Gov. Kathleen Sebelius (D) previously negotiated an off-reservation casino with two of the tribes for a different location. The compact never gained state approval.
But now she question whether the Interior Department will approve an off-reservation casino.
