Two Pomo tribes are hoping to open casinos in the city of Cloverdale, California.
The Cloverdale Rancheria of Pomo Indians purchased 13 acres that it wants place in trust.
The tribe also needs to negotiate a compact with the state.
Meanwhile, the Hopland Band of Pomo Indians has partnered with an Indian family for a $70 million, 1,700-slot machine casino on an Indian allotment. The tribe also needs a compact.
A tribal casino is already located 10 miles away from Cloverdale. The River Rock Casino is owned by the Dry Creek Band of Pomo Indians.
