The Eastern Band of Cherokees celebrated the opening of a $60 million addition to its casino in western North Carolina.
The Soco Tower, a 15-story hotel with 324 rooms, took 18 months to build. It doubles the number of rooms at the casino to nearly 600.
The tribe hopes to expand the casino in other ways with the addition of some Class III games. Negotiations are underway with the state.
