Eight California tribes met with state officials on Wednesday to discuss their use of disputed gaming devices.
No agreement was reached but the Pechanga Band of Luiseno Indians is confident the talks will be beneficial, said chairman Mark Macarro. The tribe had sued the state over the Gambling Control Commission's rule [PDF]
that changes how player stations are defined. The change would put the Pechangas and other tribes in potential violation of the tribal-state compact.
Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger (R) requested the meeting after the tribe dropped the suit.
