A judge in New York blocked the sale of land to the Seneca Nation for the tribe's second off-reservation casino.
The judge said the state must conduct an environmental impact study before construction of the casino can begin. The study could take two years to complete, according to The Buffalo News.
State lawmakers authorized two off-reservation casinos and one on-reservation casino for the tribe as part of a land claim settlement. One off-reservation casino was already built in Niagara Falls. The second off-reservation casino would be in suburban Buffalo.
