Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty (R) has amended his plan for two casinos in the Twin Cities to reduce the revenue sharing for the White Earth Band of Ojibwe and increase the total number of slot machines allowed.
The tribe would be required to share 20 percent of slot machine revenues rather than 26 percent. Canterbury Park, the non-Indian racetrack that would also get a casino under the plan, would continue to share 26 percent.
The amendment also increase the number of slot machines allowed at both casinos to 5,000. Earlier talks had the number at 4,000.
The changes delayed the bill yet again before the House Taxes Committee, which is set to be voted on today. It originally included three tribes but the Red Lake and Leech Lake bands of Ojibwe dropped out when the non-Indian racetrack was added to the deal.
