The Colorado River Indian Tribes (CRIT) are considering two sites for possible casinos.
One site is a few miles off the reservation in Blythe, California. The tribes have reached a deal with the town to build a 50,000-square-foot casino on 75 acres. Local and business leaders support the idea but the tribe would still have to negotiate a compact with the state of California and get approval to take the land into trust.
Another site is a few miles north of Blythe on the California side of the reservation, which spans Arizona and California. The tribe would need a compact to conduct Class III gaming.
The tribe currently operates a casino in Parker, Arizona.
