Santa Ysabel Band of Diegueño Indians is expecting more than 400 people to attend a picnic to break ground on a new casino being financed and built by Indian money.
The tribe plans to open the facility in May 2006. It will be one of the smallest casinos, with 349 slot machines, 14 card tables and a restaurant.
The casino is being financed by the Yavapai-Apache Nation of Arizona. The general contractor is Ukpeagvik Inupiat, an Alaska Native corporation.
