Menominee Nation touts off-reservation casino

The Menominee Nation of Wisconsin released a study on Wednesday to promote a proposed off-reservation casino.

The tribe wants to convert an old dog track in Kenosha into a Class III casino. But there is opposition from the Forest County Potawatomi Tribe, which operates a casino in the Milwaukee area.

Menominee Chairman Michael Chapman said both casinos can exist in harmony. The study predicts the Menominee casino would generate $2.2 billion over a five-year period while an expanded Potawatomi casino would generate $2.1 million.

Potawatomi officials disputed the study, saying their casino will be hurt if the Menominee casino is approved.
