The National Indian Gaming Commission published the final revisions to its Minimum Internal Control Standards (MICS) rule in the Federal Register today.
The MICS rule governs the daily operations at tribal casinos. Everything from accounting to operation of gaming machines is covered.
The rule becomes effective immediately. Tribes have until July 5 to explain how they will comply with the new standards by September 1. If the deadline cannot be met, a notice must be provided to the NIGC to obtain a 60-day extension.
