The Sac and Fox Tribe and the state of Kansas have settled their dispute over inspection of slot machines at the tribe's on-reservation casino.
The tribe and the state will select an engineer who will make sure the machines are working properly and comply with the law. The two sides had previously disagreed over who had authority to conduct the tests.
The Sac and Fox, along with the Kickapoo Tribe, have been seeking an off-reservation casino. The tribes signed a deal with Gov. Kathleen Sebelius (D) but it hasn't been approved by the Legislature.
