Rhode Island Gov. Donald Carcieri (R) proposed to share revenues from the state's only racetrack with the Narragansett Tribe.
As part of $435 million buyout of the Lincoln Park track, Carcieri said the tribe could get between $6 million and $8 million in slot revenues. He called it an "economic development fund" for the tribe.
Carcieri has been at odds with the tribe over the tribe's push for a full-fledged casino. He said the deal he proposed doesn't require the tribe to drop that effort.
Narragansett Chief Sachem Matthew Thomas said the tribe won't oppose the offer but noted that a casino was still its priority.
