Michigan court considers tribal compact dispute

The Michigan Court of Appeals on Monday heard a dispute over a tribal-state compact.

Gov. Jennifer Granholm (D) amended the compact without legislative approval. She agreed to allow the Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians to open a second casino and extended the compact by 10 years.

A group called Taxpayers of Michigan Against Casinos says Granholm violated the law. The group wants lawmakers to have a say over the compact.
