The chief of the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe says his tribe is continuing negotiations for an urban casino in Minnesota.
The Leech Lake, Red Lake and White Earth bands want Gov. Tim Pawlenty (R) to sign a compact for an off-reservation casino in the Twin Cities. The tribes are willing to share revenues with the state, as Pawlenty has demanded.
But Leech Lake chairman George Goggleye says Pawlenty's demand for $350 million a year from all the state's tribes is unrealistic. Other tribes have objected, with some accusing Pawlenty of a hostile campaign.
